Emily is a UK harpist based in the Midlands. She graduated from studying a the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Rita Schindler with First Class Honors. Emily has performed as a soloist across the UK, including venues such as Symphony Hall, Birmingham, Royal Festival Hall and Cadogan Hall. She made her concerto Debut in 2017 with the Handel Harp concerto in Canterbury Cathedral. Whilst at the conservatoire, she had the opportunity to study with esteemed harpists such as Anaïs Gudemard, Anne Denholme and Sioned Williams. She has also performed to the Duchess of Cambridge. Emily’s awards include Henriette Harp Prize 2018 and 2019 and Canterbury Festival Bursary Competition. An experienced orchestral harpist, Emily has played with orchestras such as the Birmingham Philharmonic. Notable orchestral recordings include Daphne’s and Chloe conducted by Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla played on BBC radio 3.
Emily regularly performs across the UK within her harp and classical guitar duo ‘The Cherry Stone Duo’ who work with composers to commission new music and expand the repertoire for the two instruments. Emily also performs with her Harp and Voice duo, ‘The Cassia Duo’ and her Harp, Viola and Flute trio, ‘The Athena Trio’.
A passion of Emily’s has always been inspiring young minds into being involved in the arts. She has taken many music workshops with young children and continues to do so by working with LEAP ensemble and Musicate. She is head of harp at Warwick Preparatory School and Kings High School for Girls and coaches harp chamber ensembles at Junior Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She is also the founder of ‘Musistories’ which aims to bring new music more accessible to young people in the form of narrated stories.
